Planning ahead for special events like holidays, graduations, and weddings can make handling the possibility of a flare-up easier and less stressful.

  • Bring any medicine or other supplies you might need.
  • When you arrive, locate the bathrooms.
  • If a meal is served, eat small amounts. Don’t eat too quickly.
  • Don’t drink too much alcohol.
  • Make sure you have a way to get home if you feel you need to leave.

When you are attending special events, you may have to face loved ones who may not understand your disease. But there are ways to alleviate any fears or tension so you can maintain your personal relationships with those closest to you.
