Diet and Nutrition
There is no way to either prevent or cure psoriatic arthritis with certain foods or diets. The underlying inflammatory cause of both joint and skin symptoms is not affected by diet. However, maintaining a healthy weight has many advantages, particularly for people with conditions that affect the joints. A diet rich in nutrients such as calcium and folic acid can contribute to your overall health. Fruits and vegetables, which are high in fiber, are also recommended. Drink plenty of water, and limit your intake of alcohol and foods high in saturated fat. Maintaining a healthy weight can help you manage your psoriatic arthritis since extra weight can add stress on already inflamed joints. If you need to lose weight, doing so can benefit you in a number of ways and can also reduce pressure on your joints and bones. Be sure to talk to your doctor before starting any kind of weight-loss program. Weight reduction can affect the mental and physical challenges of arthritis by helping to decrease pain and fatigue and by increasing energy and mobility. |
