The primary symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) include:

  • Joint stiffness
  • Joint pain
  • Swelling
  • Difficulty moving

Other potential symptoms of RA:

  • Loss of energy/fatigue
  • Loss of appetite
  • Fever

RA tends to affect joints symmetrically, which means you are likely to experience pain on both sides of the body at once — in both your hands or both your feet, for example. Rheumatoid arthritis causes joint pain and stiffness, swelling, limits your mobility, and if left untreated, could lead to permanent joint deformity. That’s why it is important to understand the nature of the disease and how RA progresses.
