Living with Ulcerative Colitis

Many ulcerative colitis (UC) patients have found that controlling their symptoms has made a real difference.  REMICADE may reduce the inflammation in your colon, which can help patients achieve symptom control and break the cycle of recurrent flare-ups.  In addition, there are some small things you can do to make living with ulcerative colitis a little easier.  Individual results may vary.

For instance, try the following:

  • Have meals when you will not feel rushed or have to run off to an appointment as soon as you finish eating.
  • Avoid skipping snacks or meals.
  • Try not to eat meals right before you have to go somewhere in a car, bus, or train. This will help you feel less anxious about eating.
  • Always carry any medicine your gastroenterologist recommends, such as antidiarrheal medication.
  • Make time in your day to relax.

Imagine...traveling for business meetings, making plans with your friends, and enjoying dinner with those you love without the pain and symptoms of ulcerative colitis. That's real control.
