Working with your doctor

A good relationship with your doctor is an important part of managing your condition. One way to build that relationship is to help your doctor understand your symptoms. When your doctor knows about your symptoms, he or she can choose the treatment plan that is best for you.

Here are a few ways you can make the most of every doctor’s appointment:

Converse

Be outspoken

This is the time for telling it like it is. Don’t worry about taking too much time or complaining too much. Your doctor needs to know how you’re really feeling.

Checklist

Be thorough

Talk about your physical symptoms. Some important topics to bring up are how long you have been experiencing your symptoms, how severe your symptoms are, and how long it takes you to get going in the morning.

Target

Be specific

There’s a lot to talk about, and you need to be accurate. The day before your appointment, jot down some notes so you know what you want to say and a direct way to say it.

An important aspect of staying on treatment is following your treatment plan as prescribed by your doctor. The Care4Today™ Mobile Health Manager can help to support and encourage you to manage your health by providing medication reminders. Visit mhm.care4today.com to learn more.
